You come to a stop sign, there is no traffic for MILES in any direction. What do you do?

Stop at the Stop sign before proceeding through, as the Law requires.

Let's say you are driving on a completely deserted road in the middle of the desert. You come to a crossroad with a stop sign. You can see for miles in any direction and you see no other traffic anywhere. Do you Stop, as the law requires you to do at a Stop sign. Do you slow down as you cross the intersection? Or, do you just continue on through the intersection without stopping or even slowing down?
The truth is out there. But, so is a lot of other nonsense!
